A bill has been submitted to the State Duma on the abolition of pension reform and the return of the previous retirement age, said the leader of the Fair Russia party, Sergei Mironov.
The bill proposes to return the retirement age for old-age insurance to 55 years for women and 60 years for men. In addition, the bill provides for a moratorium on the revision of these age limits until the beginning of 2035.
The authors of the initiative were all deputies of the party faction.
Mironov recalled that in 2018, raising the retirement age caused a negative reaction from citizens. He also claims that the decision was made without professional economic, social and demographic expertise.
"As a result, the results of this reform turned out to be deplorable, and they led to increased social tension in society," the deputy said.
The pension reform involves shifting the retirement age threshold by five years. The reform began in 2019. In 2026, 59-year-old women and 64-year-old men will start receiving an old-age pension. By 2028, the retirement age should reach 60 years for women and 65 years for men.
