US President Donald Trump told reporters on August 5 that he intends to withdraw the country from the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
"This is (former US President Joe) Biden's war, this is not my war. I'm here to get us out of this. It's a mess, and I'm here to sort it out and get us out," Trump said.
He noted that he was taking certain steps to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine as quickly as other conflicts in the international arena.
"I have stopped five wars in the last five months. And, to be honest, I would like this one to be the sixth. ...Just look at the ones that have been made in the last two or three months, it was amazing. That's what I'm trying to stop. That's what we're working on the most. I dealt with other countries in a matter of days," the American leader stressed.
Earlier in the day, Trump announced that he intends to make a decision on Wednesday, August 6, related to sanctions against countries that purchase Russian oil. It is noted that a preliminary meeting will be held with Russian officials.
