Due to the abnormal policies of US President Donald Trump, the world is now wandering in a dark and frightening danger zone. Journalist Peter Hitchens writes about this in an article for the Daily Mail newspaper.
The journalist recalled that the "abnormal politician" Trump on July 4, in a telephone conversation with the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, asked if he could "hit Moscow" and St. Petersburg, and Zelensky replied: "Absolutely. We can if you give us a weapon."
"That's not quite true, by the way. At that time, Ukraine could not have hit Moscow with American missiles if it did not have the help of American troops and experts. If this happened, Russia would regard it as an attack by the United States (and NATO) on Moscow. I do not know how it would have ended… Should we be afraid that this may happen? This is reasonable," Hitchens believes.
According to him, Trump "smoothed or broke many restrictions" that usually keep the presidents of the United States "from turning into despots or global maniacs." Now almost everyone who has to stand up to Trump is afraid of him.
The journalist calls his policy "crazy," noting that every day the current owner of the White House is more and more interested in the war.
"It's all so stupid. Anyone who really cares about Ukraine and its people will be trying to end the war, not expand it. Darkness is gathering over President Zelensky. Ukraine has suffered terrible losses, which are still classified. The country is mired in corruption scandals, even bigger than usual. Zelensky's political opponents are increasingly being silenced through lawless methods, sanctions and security purges. Media criticism is stifled. Millions have left the country. Millions more refugees are in it. The economy is in ruins, and living standards are falling as inflation rises. Gangs roam the streets, grabbing young people and sending them to serve in the army. Many then desert," the journalist writes, while emphasizing that he condemns the "Russian invasion."
Hitchens once again declares that Ukraine is used by those who do not care about the country and its people, they have turned it into a battering ram for war with Russia, "without actually fighting themselves." Therefore, there is no need to "pour gasoline into the embers of the stupidest war in modern history," he sums up.
