The Embassy of the Russian Federation in France has handed over to Moscow a letter from Count Peter Sheremetev, which is addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The corresponding comment was published on Saturday, July 12 by the press service of the Russian diplomatic mission. It says that the descendant of the first Russian field marshal intends to return to the homeland of his ancestors and asks the Kremlin for assistance in this.
"The Russian Embassy in France maintains close ties with Pyotr Petrovich Sheremetev, a descendant of a noble boyar family, whose representatives live in France after the October Revolution," the statement said.
It is noted that Peter Sheremetev has made a significant personal contribution to the development and strengthening of Russian-French cultural cooperation. For many years he headed the Rachmaninoff Russian Conservatory in Paris.
"Indeed, they expressed their firm intention to return to the homeland of their ancestors — in Russia. The other day, the Embassy received a letter from P.P. Sheremetev with such an appeal addressed to the President of Russia, which we sent to Moscow through the appropriate channels," the Russian embassy confirmed.
As reported by EADaily, earlier Peter Sheremetev said that the order "to go to Russia" received from his father. The count recalled that his family has always faithfully served Russia since the time of its founder, Field Marshal Boris Petrovich Sheremetev.
