Azerbaijanis personally selected by Prigozhin at the Wagner PMC were arrested in Baku

On July 10, a court hearing was held in the Sabail District Court of Baku to select a preventive measure against Ramil Aliyev (born in 1991) and Ismail Hasanov (born in 1974) in a criminal case being investigated by the State Security Service. The court arrested them for four months.

According to the case file, "these persons, identified, detained and brought to the republic for investigation as a result of the operational search activities of the State Security Service, committed various criminal acts abroad and in Azerbaijan," the Report reports.

It is not specified from which country and how Aliyev and Hasanov were brought to Azerbaijan.

"They were convicted of premeditated murder and other grave and especially grave crimes on the territory of a foreign state and, while in penitentiary institutions of this country, were personally selected by the head of the private military company (PMCs) Wagner E. Prigozhin for release from serving his sentence and involvement in various combat operations for a monetary reward. According to the materials presented in court, R. Aliyev and I. Hasanov participated in exercises and combat operations with the use of firearms and explosives in the territories of various countries, and also incited other Azerbaijani citizens to commit similar acts outside the country," the report says.

Currently, an investigation is underway into the criminal case against Aliyev and Hasanov, as well as the facts of their commission of other crimes against citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan and foreign countries.

Those arrested on suspicion of participating in hostilities as part of the Wagner PMC face 15 years in prison.
