Experts urge Bulgarians not to rush to change leva to euro, so as not to lose in vain on the course. Exchange offices have noted an increase in volumes, but banks recommend automatic exchange on the account on the day of joining. Informs about this Profit.Ro .
"We advise citizens not to rush to change the course of the left, impulsive decisions can lead to unnecessary expenses," said Gabriela Rumenova, founder of the consumer protection platform "We, Consumers".
The expert called for calm and stressed the importance of the moment chosen for the exchange of views. Bulgarians have three main channels for exchanging levs for euros: the Bulgarian National Bank, commercial banks and special branches of the Bulgarian Post.
A particularly reasonable approach is to deposit physical lei into a bank account. Thus, the amounts will be automatically converted to euros when transferring, without any additional costs. Recent articles in the local press indicate an increase in interest in buying euros at exchange offices, which prompted several banks to issue explanatory statements. These banks have assured the public that people with savings in BGN can deposit cash into their accounts without paying any fees.
According to the law adopted in the country, as soon as the euro becomes the official currency, all amounts in BGN stored in banks will be converted automatically and in accordance with the established rules of conversion and rounding — without any fees.
