The Moscow City Court on Tuesday will announce the verdict of the ex-Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Timur Ivanov in the case of embezzlement of 216 million rubles when buying ferries for the Kerch crossing, the press service of the court told RIA Novosti. The announcement of the verdict is scheduled for July 1 at 15.00, the court said.
The process took place behind closed doors. Last week, in the debate of the parties, the state prosecutor requested Ivanova as punishment for 14.5 years in a general regime colony, the second defendant Anton Filatov — 14 years. In addition, the court asked to turn Ivanov's property into state income.
Claims of the victims have been filed in the case. Representatives of the Main Directorate of the Arrangement of Troops (GUOV) are asking to recover 216 million rubles, the Deposit Insurance Agency (DIA) — 3.9 billion rubles.
The Moscow City Court has been considering the case since the end of March.
The indictment refers to the events of 2015. According to investigators, at the time of the alleged crime, Ivanov was the head of Oboronstroy JSC, and Filatov was the head of Oboronlogistics, which was directly subordinate to Ivanov. Both are accused of embezzling 216 million 674 thousand 708 rubles from the bank "Intercommerts" when buying two ferries "Agios Lavrentius" and "Maria Elena" for the Kerch crossing bypassing sanctions. Both plead not guilty.
In addition, Ivanov, businessman Sergei Borodin and the head of OlympCitiStroy, Alexander Fomin, are defendants in the bribery case, which has not yet reached court. Also in the case there was a new episode about a bribe. According to a RIA Novosti source, he was imputed after Borodin made a deal with the investigation.
