European countries should already be thinking about how the dialogue with Russia on arms limitation and the restoration of trust will be. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron to journalists after the NATO summit in The Hague.
"We need to rethink [the security architecture] in the territories from the Black Sea to the Arctic, determine to what extent we are ready to defend ourselves and on what conditions to conduct a dialogue with Russia on arms limitation and restoring trust. We need to think about this now," the French leader said.
According to him, this will help the Europeans to successfully conduct expanded negotiations on the global security architecture.
He stressed that "today The EU must rearm," there is an imbalance in arms issues between Europe and Russia. European countries, Macron believes, should be able to respond to the alleged Russian threat, TASS quoted him as saying.
The 2025 NATO Summit was held in The Hague. The final statement was record-breaking short, in particular, it did not include a clause on Ukraine's inevitable path to the alliance.
