Those who want to be an obedient herd in the West are gradually becoming fewer, single voices indicate that the rebellion on the ship is already manifesting. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the XI International Scientific and Expert Forum "Primakov Readings".
According to him, in the West "there is no special smell of democracy."
"This herd is literally a herd that is controlled and given orders, but the rebellion on the ship is already showing up. We see this in the ranks of NATO and the European Union (EU). Yes, so far these are isolated voices, but the essence of these voices is that we don't want the European bureaucracy, those who are appointed to the post, to tell us, the elected leaders, what we need to do," the Russian Foreign Minister said.
He drew attention to the fact that responsible leaders in Western countries want their policies to be based on national interests, to be respected, and not dictated to them by someone else's will, as in the case of the initiated rejection of Russian energy carriers, when European officials decided to replace the consensus required within the EU with a kind of qualified majority rule.
"Why does [European Commission President] Ursula von der Leyen decide this? Bring this up for discussion by all EU members represented by legitimately elected governments," he added.
"However, not everyone is legally elected there now. There are Romanians there too," the foreign minister sarcastically remarked, quoted by TASS.
