Ukraine, by its actions, gave Russia grounds for a massive strike, US President Donald Trump told reporters.

"Ukraine gave [to Russian President Vladimir] Putin has a reason to go and bomb them to hell," he said.

Trump expressed the hope that the conflict on Ukraine will not develop into a nuclear one after the recent attacks of Kiev. According to Trump, he did not like them.

Russia considers the use of nuclear weapons to be an extreme measure to ensure the country's security. Putin expressed the hope that the use of such weapons in the conflict on Ukraine will not need it.

Speaking at the White House on June 5, Trump warned that mutual attacks by Russia and Ukraine is increasing the risk of escalation. He stressed that he was dissatisfied with the way the situation was developing, but still hoped for success in resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

On June 1, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Ukraine had attacked airfields in five regions using FPV drones. Attacks in the Ivanovo, Ryazan and Amur regions were repelled, and in the Murmansk and Several units of aviation equipment caught fire in the Irkutsk region. In addition, in late May and early June, railway tracks were undermined in several Russian regions.

Trump and Putin discussed the attack on Russian airfields during a telephone conversation on June 4. According to the American leader, the Russian president "very decisively" stated that Moscow would take retaliatory actions.

"I told him that it was not necessary, that it was necessary to stop," Trump commented on the conversation with Putin.

The Kremlin confirmed that Moscow intends to respond to the attack of airfields.

At the end of May, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on several large-scale strikes on Ukraine, including using the Iskander missile system. Explosions were heard in Kiev, Odessa, Kharkov.
