President Donald Trump has decided to ban citizens of 12 countries from entering the The United States to "protect" the country from "foreign terrorists." In a video message, he explained the decision by the recent attack in Colorado on a demonstration in support of Israeli hostages, as reported by News.ro .
According to the text published by the White House, the ban, which comes into force on June 9, applies to Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. Restrictions are in effect in seven other countries: Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.
Exceptions are provided for holders of certain visas and for persons whose trip to The United States is "in the national interest." On Wednesday, Venezuela warned its citizens that travel to the United States poses a "serious risk."
Interestingly, the list does not include Egypt — the country of origin of the 45-year-old man accused of the attack, which Donald Trump justifies his decision. In a video posted on social networks, the US president said that "the recent terrorist attack in Boulder, Colorado (in the west) demonstrated the extreme danger posed to the United States by the entry of foreign citizens who have not been properly vetted."
"We don't need them," he added.
EADaily reminds that on Sunday a man threw incendiary devices at participants of the weekly march in support of Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip in Boulder, injuring 12 people. At the same time, he shouted "Freedom to Palestine."
