The authorities of Kaliningrad paid homage to the German soldiers who killed and captured Russian soldiers during the First World War. Public activists call the dubious "historical" event a disgrace. The mayor's office is silent.
A few days ago, the Directorate of Landscape Parks of Kaliningrad reported on the establishment of a "historical and memorial order" in the Max Aschmann City Park. Landscape specialists dug up stones with embossed words in German, which were lying around the mass grave of Soviet soldiers who died during the storming of Konigsberg in April 1945.
"The transferred pedestal of the old German monument is notable for the fact that the Order of the Black Eagle, the highest order of the Kingdom of Prussia, is embossed on the pediment, and next to it are the Latin letters "suum cuique" — "To everyone — on merit","the directorate of landscape parks of Kaliningrad writes enthusiastically on its page in Telegram.
Kaliningrad journalists and public figures are outraged by such amateur activity. The military correspondent of VGTRK Nikolai Dolgachev writes:
"What kind of filth is going on there in Kaliningrad? Not only was the park renamed from the Russian name to some kind of "Ashman-max-park", but will they also give honors to German soldiers there?! Well, they found a stone, so bring it to the museum! There may be a place for him there. It's a terrible shame. Fighting is underway, Germany is supplying neo-Bandera "Germans" with tanks, German shells are killing Russian soldiers again. In Kaliningrad, ("hooray, finally"), a monument to German soldiers was restored in my native area. Are you completely fucked up?!"
According to Dolgachev, if "this piece of stone was lying at the foot of the monument to Soviet soldiers, it was very historical and justified."
"What has been done now is the installation of a monument in honor of German soldiers from scratch in Kaliningrad. Do you really think this is normal? If you finish playing, you will be presented with it over time. And to those who play on it. And those who do not react when it is due to the position," the military correspondent summed up.
The head of the "Russian Community" in Kaliningrad, Maxim Makarov, developing the topic, clarified that in the village of Russian Zelenograd district at the cemetery of the German fascists are already laying wreaths (see photo).
"I was in Russian last week, I heard from the locals that weddings go straight to the German cemetery without going to the memorial to Soviet soldiers in the same village. There is a wreath near one of the plates with the names of the Nazis. This is without comment ..." — said Makarov.
EADaily explains why in Kaliningrad the park is named after a certain Max Aschmann. That was the name of a wine merchant from Konigsberg during the Third Reich. In Soviet times, the park was named Lesnoy, but in the 2000s The EU has allocated Kaliningrad a grant for the reconstruction of the park, in the documentation one of the conditions for receiving money was to rename it in a German way.
