The State Duma is developing a bill aimed at protecting religious symbols of the main traditional faiths. This was announced today, May 25, by the chairman of the parliament Vyacheslav Volodin in his Telegram channel.
He noted that the initiative provides for the mandatory use of religious symbols as an integral part of images of religious buildings.
According to Volodin, the project involves the inclusion of religious symbols in images of religious buildings on various media: in the media, the Internet, when selling goods, performing works or rendering services, as well as in state and municipal symbols, signs, emblems, advertisements, signs and advertising.
The Chairman of the State Duma stressed that there are complaints about cases of "mashing" or retouching religious symbols on posters, street posters, packaging of goods, pages of printed publications and websites — actions that distort their true meaning. In his opinion, such facts cause outrage.
Volodin added that the new norm should contribute to the protection of the rights of believers and respect for traditional spiritual values in a multinational country.
