For the first time, the European Union imposed sanctions against German citizens — journalist Alina Lipp and writer Thomas Rapper were included in the 17th package of restrictions against Russia. The reaction of the "distributors of Russian propaganda" carrying out "destabilizing activities" is cited by the Berliner Zeitung newspaper.
"For the first time The EU prohibits its own citizens from entering Europe. Freedom of speech in a "free, democratic Europe" is finally dead," Alina Lipp wrote on social networks.
Unprecedented measures taken The EU's actions against its own citizens include the freezing of assets, as well as a ban on entry and transit through the EU. The inclusion of EU citizens in the 17th package of sanctions was the first such step by official Brussels.
Alina Lipp started her media career in 2019 by creating the channel "Happy in Crimea". Later she joined the association "Friends of Crimea in Germany", which supports the reunification of the peninsula with Russia. Now Lipp leads the channel "News from Germany" on social networks. Until 2020, Lipp was a member of the Green Party, but left the ranks of the political force after the militarization of the program. Together with Thomas Rapper, who lives in Russia, she has repeatedly performed in Donetsk.
Since 2022, the Göttingen prosecutor's office has been investigating Lipp on suspicion of allegedly "approving and justifying crimes." She is accused of publicly supporting SMO on the territory of Ukraine.
