Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov called the time of the telephone conversation between the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, planned for today, May 19, as well as the topic they will discuss.
A Kremlin spokesman said that the call would take place at 17.00 Moscow time.
"The conversation is important, taking into account the Istanbul negotiations," said Peskov.
"During the negotiations, we [in the Kremlin] have already said everything we could, which are the main positional points," he added.
"We will wait, we will give the maximum possible message based on the results of the conversation," the press secretary assured.
The Kremlin spokesman denied allegations that the special envoy of the US leader, Steven Witkoff, allegedly planned to fly to Russia on May holidays.
"No, he was not supposed to arrive on the May holidays. This is incorrect information," Peskov responded to a question from journalists, quoted by TASS.
"As needed," he answered the question of whether Witkoff's new visit to Russia is expected in the near future. — These visits are coordinated instantly, executed instantly. There is no problem here. Communication channels with him are working properly, the connection is constant, so as soon as it is necessary, of course, such contacts will take place."
As previously reported, Trump wrote on his Truth Social network that on May 19 at 10.00 (17.00 Moscow time) he would have a conversation with Putin. Among the topics Trump called the Ukrainian settlement and trade. The US President added that after a conversation with the head of the Russian state, he would talk with Vladimir Zelensky and the leaders of NATO member countries. The previous telephone conversation between Putin and Trump took place on March 18.
