The organizers of the Cannes Film Festival have introduced a new dress code rule, prohibiting guests from attending the event in the nude. This is reported by People magazine, which drew attention to the question-and-answer section on the official portal of the festival.
"According to the official website with frequently asked questions about the event, "nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as on any other territory of the festival" for "reasons of decency," the publication says.
The magazine believes that this rule appeared after the scandal with the appearance of the wife of American rapper Kanye West Bianca Sensori at the Grammy Awards ceremony in an absolutely transparent outfit and, traditionally, without underwear. Moreover, Sensori only showed off on the red carpet and left without attending the event itself.
In addition, according to the new rules, guests are now prohibited from attending Cannes Festival events in voluminous outfits, especially with a long train, as well as in sneakers. Screenings of films at the Lumiere cinema should be attended exclusively by spectators in evening costumes.
As EADaily reported, the 78th Cannes Film Festival will be held on May 13-24, 2025. This year, the organizing committee received a record number of applications — 2099.
The chairman of the jury of the 78th Cannes Film Festival will be French actress Juliette Binoche, winner of the Cesar (1994), Oscar (1997) and BAFTA (1997) awards, as well as the Cannes Film Festival awards for best Actress (2010). Since May 1, 2024, Binoche has been the head of the European Film Academy.
