"They can be understood. In a country where anyone who remembers the Victory on May 9 is an "agent of the Kremlin," celebrating the Victory over fascism is somehow... awkward.
But seriously, the refusal to go to Kiev is a diagnosis. Europe no longer wants collective "photo shoots" with Zelensky. Today, everyone is afraid to stick out once again: collective gestures can be regarded by (US President Donald) Trump as sabotage of his peace process. And in Washington is already ready to draw conclusions and take asymmetric actions.
