The leaders of the European Union refused to go to Kiev on May 9, where they were invited to "alternative" events to the Victory Parade in Moscow. This is reported by Politico.
The Ukrainian authorities invited top European officials to demonstrate to Russian President Vladimir Putin whose side Europe is on. However, Europe has its own plans. For example, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will go to Nancy to sign a security treaty with French President Emmanuel Macron. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer plans to attend a defense summit in Oslo. And the incoming German Chancellor Friedrich Merz does not want to go until the entire government has been approved, writes Politico.
At the same time, it is possible that the EU foreign ministers will visit Lviv on May 9, where they were invited earlier by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga, the Strana newspaper reports.
As EADaily reported, earlier the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, invited European leaders to Kiev on May 9 to "demonstrate unity and determination" against Russia.
