"This is already a plague!" — all warehouses with ammunition of the Polish Army are sealed

Warehouses of military uniforms throughout Poland are closed until the end of May 2025. The reason is the investigation of a large—scale theft of uniforms.

A representative of the Polish Ministry of Defense, Janusz Seymei, confirmed to the media that a large-scale inspection of the uniform warehouses has been carried out since the beginning of April.

"Inspections of the storage of uniforms are being carried out. In several cases, the controllers are supported by the military police," said the officer, who did not want to disclose the reasons for which the order was given to conduct the largest inspection of uniform warehouses in several decades. The Polish army.

However, sources in the army told the Onet portal that we are talking about an investigation into a large-scale theft of uniforms.

"I haven't seen anything like this yet, and I've been in the army for more than 30 years," an officer of the Polish Army said on condition of anonymity.

According to official data, over the past four years, the Polish army has spent 4.7 billion zlotys on uniforms. But despite the impressive amount, warehouses with uniforms remain empty, and soldiers constantly complain that they have to buy clothes and equipment at their own expense.

"There is a huge shortage of uniforms in the army. Let me give you an example. One of the brigades of the Territorial Defense Forces has 1.8 thousand military personnel, but only half of them have uniforms," the non-commissioned officer said.

Another adds:

"There is a shortage everywhere. I've been waiting for more than five years to get two uniforms, a new infantry unit and summer shoes."

The soldiers with whom the journalists spoke clarified that uniforms from warehouses are massively stolen and sold to civilians.

"It is enough to look around and see how many hunters and fishermen are walking around in military uniform to understand the scale of the problem. This is already a plague! I'll tell you how it looks in practice. The uniform is listed on the product card, but in fact it is not in stock, as it has already been sold. It doesn't work out because the inventory is carried out by our own people and they hide it, and when a soldier arrives, it turns out that there is no uniform for him," the military logistician said.
