Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova sent greetings to German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbok on the 80th anniversary of the capture of the Nazi fortress of Konigsberg.
Zakharova recalled Berbok's remark that she was proud of her fascist grandfather, who fought in Konigsberg during the Great Patriotic War and capitulated accordingly.
"I would like to take this opportunity to extend my greetings to German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbok," she said during a briefing.
It is worth recalling that Annalena Berbok often talks about her fascist grandfather. He read Hitler's book Mein Kampf and fully supported Hitler's Nazi regime.
Today, on April 9, the governor of the Kaliningrad region Alexey Besprozvannykh took part in laying flowers at the monument to 1200 guards who died during the storming of Konigsberg.
"We believe that April 9 is the birthday of the Kaliningrad region. In 1945, our soldiers entered this land to stay here forever," the governor said.
