Patriotic signs in the form of letters ZVO (SMO) began to be removed after a telephone conversation between the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, which took place the day before, but then they were put back in place. As stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, "the light bulbs were changed to make it more visible."
Later, at night, Zakharova explained the temporary dismantling of the SMO symbolism — the letter ZVO — in front of the American embassy in Moscow by replacing light bulbs.
"And about the letters in front of the American embassy. Light bulbs are changed. To be more visible," the diplomat wrote in her telegram channel.
The letters ZVO and the inscription "We are together" in the colors of the Russian flag at the US Embassy in Moscow remains in the same place.
