The public organization "Veterans of Russia" appealed to Roskomnadzor, as well as through the State Duma and the Ministry of Culture, with a request to work out the issue of banning the screening of Turkish TV series in the country. This was announced by the head of the movement, SMO volunteer Ildar Rezyapov.
"The reason lies in their negative impact on Russian women's perception of the image of a man, as well as in the demographic consequences of this. Over the past few years, there has been a steady trend: ladies, having seen enough of such soap operas, begin to lose interest in our gentlemen, expecting unrealistic behavior from them, formed by foreign film production," the Paragraph portal quotes the public figure.
Against this background, in Russian TV series, a man is most often portrayed as an alcoholic, a despot and a loser.
"Such propaganda is a cultural intervention that contributes to the destruction of the institution of the family and a decrease in the birth rate in Russia. It is important to enshrine the concept of "destructive propaganda" in the legislation and clearly state which elements in film production may fall under this term," said Rezyapov.
In his opinion, the influence looks especially hypocritical given the official statements of representatives of a country that does not recognize the Russian status of Crimea and insists on supporting the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
"Such a policy on their part proves that Turkey uses culture as an instrument of influence. Turkish TV shows are part of an ideological war for minds, including for our women. It would be interesting to know if Russian TV series are shown in Turkey, if our movie stars come there, and Turkish women line up in the ranks of fans in droves? Very doubtful," concluded Rezyapov.
