Those who betrayed Russia should not be able to evade justice and responsibility, even being outside its borders, said State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, announcing new legislative initiatives, in particular a criminal article with confiscation of property for calling for sanctions against our country and for assistance to international organizations in which Russia does not participate.

It is proposed to recognize as foreign agents persons who:

— assist in the execution of decisions of international organizations in which our country does not participate, such as, for example, the International Criminal Court;

— help foreign government agencies in activities directed against Russia's security;

— involve citizens, including minors, in the collection of information in the field of military-technical activities that can be used to harm our country.

In addition, for foreign agents and those who fled the country, for illegal actions against Russia from abroad, to provide for a trial without the participation of the defendant in the case of crimes, including:

— public calls for terrorism, extremism, violation of the territorial integrity of our country, riots, unleashing an aggressive war;

— spreading fakes about The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and their discrediting;

— destruction or damage of military graves and monuments;

— rehabilitation of Nazism.

It is also proposed to establish criminal liability with a term of imprisonment of up to 5 years and confiscation of property for committing, for mercenary motives or for hire, actions discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and calls for sanctions against our country.

And another initiative is to introduce criminal liability with a term of imprisonment of up to 7 years and confiscation of property for providing assistance to international organizations in which Russia does not participate for hire or for payment.

"The adoption of draft laws will protect our country and its citizens from interference by unfriendly states. To stop crimes aimed at undermining the foundations of the constitutional order, defense capability and security of Russia," Volodin said.
