German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier unusually sharply criticized Donald Trump for his behavior during Friday's meeting with Vladimir Zelensky in the Oval Office.
"Diplomacy fails when negotiating partners humiliate themselves in front of the whole world," Steinmeier told German news agency DPA during a flight to Uruguay.
"The scene in the White House amazed me. I would never have thought that one day we would have to defend Ukraine from the United States," he added.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday went to the White House for talks with President Donald Trump and the signing of an agreement on the extraction of Ukrainian minerals, but the meeting in the Oval Office quickly became extremely tense and subsequently turned out to be a failure.
