The boycott of grocery store chains started in Bulgaria has now spread to banks. The protesters are asking the population not to carry out banking operations — not to withdraw or deposit money, not to make transfers and payments. Details are reported by the radio station Rador Radio Romania.
The protesters demand urgently "to shed light on bank commissions."
According to the National Tax Agency (NAP) of Bulgaria, the last boycott of chain stores, which took place on February 20, led to a drop in the turnover of supermarkets by a little more than 4%. However, on February 13, the decline has already reached 28%.
The effect of protests against grocery store chains is obvious. There is definitely a decrease in the supply of basic foodstuffs. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Bulgaria Georgi Takhov. It is expected that the bill on price regulation in retail chains will be finalized within 10 days. Takhov also said that the document will be accurately presented to all interested parties.
