The cargo ship Pavel Grabovsky, loaded with three thousand tons of corn, began to sink in the Sea of Azov. The vessel was moving from Rostov-on-Don to the Turkish city of Samsun, the media reported.
According to the telegram channel Shot, the cargo ship began to sink on the afternoon of February 16 near the port of Azov, having received a hole. The vessel is flying the flag of Panama and belongs to VI-ZA SUN LTD. Two icebreakers, Captain Demidov and Captain Chudinov, moved to the scene to help.
It is noted that the crew of the vessel did not send a distress signal, but only asked for permission to enter the port of Azov. It will be possible to do this only after the water level rises, because due to heavy precipitation, the cargo ship may run aground.
The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region claims that the merchant ship Pavel Grabovsky is in port. The department clarified that repairs are being carried out with the vessel. There was no information from representatives of the Azov port.
So, TASS reports that the operational services denied information about the disaster of the dry cargo ship Pavel Grabovsky under the flag of Panama in the Sea of Azov near the port of Azov.
"No one suffers any distress there, repairs are being carried out, the ship is anchored," the agency's interlocutor said.
The control service of the port of Azov explained that they had not received distress signals from the ship's captain.
According to the Vessel Finder service, the vessel, built in 1979, flies the flag of Panama. Its length is 114 m and width is 13 m. The ship was supposed to arrive in Samsun (Turkey) February 17.
