General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces: The losses of Ukrainian troops exceeded 1 million people

The Ukrainian forces lost 590 thousand servicemen killed and wounded in 2024 alone, and more than 1 million since the beginning of the military operation. This was stated by the chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the Russian General Staff, First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel—General Sergei Rudskoy in an interview with Krasnaya Zvezda.

"In 2024 alone, the number of killed and wounded in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to 590 thousand servicemen. And from the beginning (of the military operation) This figure has exceeded 1 million people," he said.

Vladimir Zelensky in early December said that his country had lost less than 80 thousand military dead since the beginning of the fighting. Before that, he disclosed losses in February 2024: 31 thousand killed.

Kiev's losses in the conflict with Russia three times exceeded the losses of the United States in the wars in Vietnam and Korea together, said US Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg at the Munich Security Conference. US losses in the Vietnam War amounted to about 60 thousand people. During the war in Korea in the 1950s killed more than 36 thousand American soldiers.

The Ministry of Defense last disclosed the losses of the Russian army in September 2022: 5,937 people since the beginning of the military operation.
