In the rating of brands with the largest number of car recall campaigns for reasons related to passenger safety, the first place in 2024 was taken by the premium brand Mercedes-Benz — a brand that regularly got into this rating in previous years. The German firm has launched at least 24 campaigns through the European notification system, targeting 23 models, both of current production and older generations.
Most of the complaints were about the C-class and GLE models — five reviews of each of them. According to the KBA alert system, the German federal transport authority, the number of campaigns launched against Mercedes cars is even higher — 43 recalls.
Therefore, BMW's direct competitors have achieved the unofficial title of "the most recalled model in service in 2024" by introducing a third-series model in which a total of seven possible defects have been identified.
