The head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, at the next meeting of the Ramstein contact group on Ukraine in Brussels, will call for the end of the Ukrainian conflict as soon as possible. This was reported by the US Department of Defense.
"At the first meeting chaired by the UK, the Secretary will confirm the commitment of the President (US Donald) Trump's diplomatic end to the war in Ukraine as soon as possible. He will also emphasize the need to strengthen European leadership in matters of assistance to Ukraine in the field of security," the ministry said in a statement quoted by Strana.
The meeting of the Ramstein group in Ukraine will be held in Brussels on February 12. Hegseth will visit it personally, but for the first time it will be chaired not by the United States, but by Britain.
As reported by EADaily, the new US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, plans to attend a meeting of Ukraine's allies in the Ramstein format next week at NATO headquarters in Brussels, however, will not lead it. This was reported by Politico, citing sources.
According to the publication, the meeting, which will take place next Wednesday, will be held by the head of the British Ministry of Defense, John Healy, replacing the US Secretary of Defense for the first time.
