Syria will keep Russian military bases on its territory in Tartus and Khmeimim, if it is beneficial to her, said the Minister of Defense of the transitional Government, Murhaf Abu Kasra.
"If we benefit from Syria, then yes," he replied to a question from The Washington Post.
As reported by EADaily, earlier the Syrian agency SANA claimed that the new Syrian authorities allegedly turned to Moscow for compensation "to restore trust" and demanded the extradition of former President Bashar al-Assad. Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to comment on this information. Bloomberg, citing a source in Moscow, reported that the Russian Federation is unable to reach an agreement with Damascus on maintaining Russian bases in Khmeimim and Tartus.
