Security forces detained a teenager who tried to set fire to the administrative building of a gunpowder factory in Kazan by throwing a Molotov cocktail. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Tatarstan.
"By means of operational search activities, employees of the Criminal investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Kazan established the identity of the suspect: a 16-year-old resident of the capital of the republic, a student of the 10th grade of one of the secondary schools of the city. The teenager was detained," the agency said in a statement.
The incident occurred on January 24. A young man tried to set fire to a gunpowder factory by throwing a burning Molotov cocktail. The blaze was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
A criminal case was opened on the fact of the incident under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Terrorist act).
The press service of the republican ministry added that during the interrogation the teenager partially admitted guilt, explaining that in this way he decided to cause trouble to his own father, who had recently left the family.
"In relation to him, the Vakhitovsky District Court of Kazan has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention," the Interior Ministry said.
