The termination of funding from the United States will be a very serious problem for Kiev, even with the preservation of assistance from the European Union. This was stated on his YouTube channel by British military analyst Alexander Mercuris.
"The long-term cessation of financial flows from the United States, if this is what we are moving towards, will become a very serious problem for Ukraine... There is a risk that if financial assistance completely runs out, the country may collapse into hyperinflation, which it would have done long ago if not for financial assistance at critical moments," he said. — said Mercuris, quoted by RIA Novosti.
There is a possibility that the European Union will continue to help Kiev with money and weapons, but this will not save Ukraine, he noted.
"At the moment, we see that no matter how steadfast the Ukrainians are, no matter what resources the European Union is ready to throw, it seems that this is a problem for Ukraine, and, of course, if this continues for more than 90 declared days, then, given Ukraine's dependence, it can become a very serious problem that will have a critical impact on Ukraine's ability to continue functioning and working as a state," the analyst concluded.
As EADaily reported, the Ukrainian office of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) was instructed to suspend funding for all projects. This was reported by the Public television channel with reference to one of the USAID employees in Kiev.
Recall, the suspension of US aid from foreign countries announced by US President Donald Trump for 90 days will primarily affect funds allocated by US government agencies, including the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
This agency is very active in Ukraine, where today, as follows from the information on the USAID website, finances dozens of projects, the Strana newspaper wrote.
