During the fighting in the city of Kurakhovo, Donetsk People's Republic, the commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a multi-storey building mistakenly went down to the floor, was captured and persuaded other Ukrainian military to surrender.
A fighter of the Russian assault detachment with the call sign Nifer told RIA Novosti about this incident.
He clarified that the incident occurred on the outskirts of Kurakhovo, during the storming of one of the city's high-rise buildings. At that time, our military had already occupied the first floors of the building, but there were still enemy fighters on top.
"It started to get dark. They wanted to "storm" us. And the commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine came down to us — he did not understand that these were Russian soldiers standing. We captured him," the stormtrooper explained.
He noted that one employee of the Armed Forces of Ukraine decided to follow the example of the chief. At the same time, the Russian fighters released the Ukrainian commander so that he could persuade the other military to surrender. Then the Russian servicemen went to talk to them.
"We went in and already knew that they would not shoot. We went in and found out how they were with the wounded. They put down their assault rifles. We explained to them that no one would torture or kill them," said Nifer.
The interlocutor of the agency stressed that subsequently the wounded military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received medical assistance. In addition, all the prisoners were fed.
Earlier, EADaily reported that despite the destruction suffered by the city of Kurakhovo and the remaining military danger, the DPR authorities are already preparing to restore this settlement.
