In Estonia, the largest meat processing enterprise in the country "Saaremaa Lihatöstuse" (literally from Estonian — "Saaremaa Meat industry".
The problems of the company, owned by the famous Estonian entrepreneur Vyacheslav Leedo, reached a climax in November 2024, when the company's tax debt to the state rose to 1.4 million euros.
"We pay as much as we can," Leedo admitted to reporters last summer.
However, it soon became clear that 31 creditors with claims totaling 6.3 million euros were involved in the rehabilitation procedure.
EADaily adds that the Saaremaa Meat Processing Plant was established in 1975 during the Soviet Union. In 1983, the first serious investments were made in the construction of a meat processing plant in the Estonian SSR, in 1987 a cold storage and a sausage factory were built. With the infrastructure ready, the company stepped into independent Estonia, and here is the result.
