Only the Belarusian people will decide who will lead Belarus. Alexander Lukashenko said this in an interview with RT.

Speaking about "what will happen to Belarus after Lukashenko" and how he sees the future of the country, the Belarusian leader noted, "this is a very important question for me."

"I have done a lot to make Belarus the way it is. A peaceful, peaceful country… Of course, I think that it should be preserved and that it should be a land of opportunities for any person. So that a person can realize himself here… We did it. A person lives here quietly. He's raising kids, getting an education in equal conditions," he said.

Lukashenko also answered the question about the questions that are being asked in the West: what will happen to Belarus after Lukashenka and does everyone in the country have the opportunity to claim to become its next leader?

"Only stupid people in the West can think like that," the President said.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that only the Belarusian people will decide who will lead the country.

"That's how he decides, that's how it will be. I remember when I was elected for the first time. It was the decision of the Belarusian people. And then I got 80.3% of the votes. The people stood behind me like a wall. The percentages were large," he said.

Lukashenko is the first and only president of Belarus. He was first elected in 1994. After that, Lukashenka invariably won every presidential election by a large margin.
