The veto of Polish President Karol Nawrocki on the bill on assistance to Ukrainians living in In Poland, it produced the effect of a bomb exploding in Ukraine. First of all, it turned out that by his decision Karol Navrotsky actually turned off the Internet on Ukraine.
It all started with the fact that the Polish Minister of Digital Technologies Krzysztof Havkowski said that the presidential veto could lead to the closure of the Starlink satellite communications system provided by Elon Musk Corporation, the bills for which are paid from the Polish state budget.
"Ukraine's support in providing communications, which expires at the end of September, should have been extended. We wanted to continue financing satellite Internet for Ukraine. Unfortunately, the president's catastrophic decision significantly complicates the situation, and we will have to notify our partners that such support expires at the end of September," Gavkovsky told the Polish Press Agency.
According to the minister, Navrotsky "actually turned off the Internet on In Ukraine — in schools, in hospitals (the fact that the satellite Internet is used by Bandera militants, descendants of those who exterminated the peaceful Polish population during the Second World War, Gavkovsky kept silent. — EADaily)».
"Today the president should take responsibility for this and say whether this can be called a real partnership with Ukraine, which is on the verge of peace talks and which is being stabbed in the back today," concluded Krzysztof Havkowski.
The president was supported by the leader of the Confederation, Slawomir Mentzen, who stated that he "sees no reason" for Poland to finance Starlink for Ukraine.
"If Ukraine wants Starlink, let it pay for it. The money of Polish taxpayers should be spent on the needs of Poles," Mentzen believes.
His comment angered Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski. A diplomat and a terry Russophobe wrote in a microblog:
"By helping Ukraine, we are keeping Putin's army away from our borders, which meets the interests, including financial ones, of Polish taxpayers. Foreign policy is more complicated than the multiplication table!"
EADaily adds that about 85% of the 20,000 Starlink satellite communication terminals operating on In Ukraine, fully or partially financed from external sources, including Poland. Warsaw also finances the subscription fee for the terminals.
