In Britain, Pakistani Qari Abdul Rauf, who led a gang of rapists and had to be deported by court order almost ten years ago, still lives and works in the city where he committed crimes. This is reported by The Times newspaper.
The 55-year-old man led a gang of nine people of Asian origin. They were convicted in 2012, in particular, for the rape of minors and human trafficking.
Kari Abdul Rauf was sent to prison for six years, but after 2.5 years, in November 2014, he was released. He was promised that after his release he would be deported to Pakistan.
The publication notes that the man's lawyers claim that he renounced Pakistani citizenship, so deportation will actually make him a "stateless person", and also that this will deprive the man of the right to family life, since he has a wife and five children in the UK. Immigration tribunal judges rejected his deportation appeal twice in 2020 and 2022.
Currently, the man still lives and works as a food deliveryman in Rochdale, where a criminal gang once operated, the newspaper writes.
