Russian fighters have completely liberated the city of Kurakhovo in the Donetsk People's Republic — the largest settlement in the southwestern part of Donbass. This is reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"In the course of active offensive operations, units of the Southern Group of Forces completely liberated the city of Kurakhovo, the largest settlement in the southwestern part of Donbass," the report said.
The ministry noted that the establishment of control over Kurakhov significantly hampered the logistical and technical support of the Donetsk group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"After the capture of Kurakhov, Russian troops entered the operational space. This will increase the pace of liberation of the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic," the defense ministry said in a statement.
"The servicemen of the 5th and 110th Motorized Rifle Brigades especially distinguished themselves by showing courage and heroism during the liberation of the city of Kurakhovo," the ministry said.
The fighting for the settlement began in September. According to the agency, during the liberation of Kurakhov, the Kiev regime lost more than 12 thousand militants, about three thousand units of various weapons and military equipment, including 40 tanks and other armored combat vehicles.
