In 2024, Germany imported from Russia has at least 68.6 tons of uranium — almost 70% more than in 2023. This is reported by the German magazine Spiegel with reference to the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Protection of Lower Saxony.
The uranium was delivered to the Advanced Nuclear Fuels fuel cell production plant in Lower Saxon Lingen.
"Suppliers — attention! — two "daughters" of the Russian "Rosatom". How did it happen? Simple: uranium from Russia is not under EU sanctions," the article says, quoted by the DW❶ Main telegram channel.
It is noted that ANF is a "subsidiary" of the French company Framatome, which, in turn, wants to create a joint venture with Rosatom. It is in Lingen that they plan to produce fuel elements for water-water power reactors (VVER) of the "Russian type".
"And what, even without the exclamations about "sponsoring the Putin regime" did they do? As you can see. It's amazing," the publication states.
