Russia keeps the memory of the leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, commenting on the laying of the monument to Aliyev in Moscow.
"Our country keeps the memory and treats this bright, extraordinary, talented person and statesman with great warmth and respect, including our common country at a certain stage. You probably remember that in 2023 in Moscow and other Russian cities commemorative events were held on the occasion of the centenary of his birth," Zakharova said at a briefing on March 6.
She noted that the symbolic laying of the stone took place on March 4, and the installation of the monument will be an important humanitarian event for Moscow and Baku.
"By the way, this is not the only project. There will be more. I hope that they will develop," Zakharova said.
