"Causes great concern" — Lavrov commented on the call of the Russian ambassador to the Japanese Foreign Ministry

Japan's attempt to evade historical responsibility for what it has done is very alarming, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, answering a question from TASS about the summoning of the Russian ambassador to Tokyo to the Japanese Foreign Ministry because of the trip of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Kuril Islands.

As the minister stressed, "there is nothing to even talk about here." He noted that if Japan tries to "remake international law for itself" and for the United States, with which the country has a close alliance, and also violates its constitution, at least, as announced, three non-nuclear principles and an army that tries to hold events abroad, which was prohibited by the constitution, it causes great anxiety.

As EADaily reported, earlier today, Japanese Ambassador to Moscow Akira Muto arrived at the Russian Foreign Ministry, where an explanatory conversation was held with him. The Russian Foreign Ministry has issued a message stating that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin expressed a strong protest to the Japanese diplomat in connection with anti-Russian statements by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Iturup Island. The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that Russia's sovereignty and jurisdiction over the southern Kuril Islands are inviolable.

In addition, the head of the Japanese diplomatic mission was told that "in the context of Tokyo's continued adherence to the sanctions policy of the "collective West" against Russia, as well as Japan's support for the Kiev regime, Moscow reserves the right to adequate countermeasures."
