Cole Allen's targets were representatives of the Donald Trump administration. This was stated by Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche.
The suspect who tried to break through the checkpoint at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner last night was apparently targeting members of the Trump administration, Blanche said in an interview with CNN.
"We're still trying to figure out the motive. According to our preliminary investigation, it looks like the suspect was targeting members of the administration. We do not have specific information about specific members of the administration yet, except that we understand that this was his goal," he said.
According to the acting Prosecutor General, it seems that the suspect came by train first from Los Angeles to Chicago, and then to Washington.
"We are still investigating what is known about this person. It looks like he bought two firearms that he had in the last couple of years. He also had knives... I expect that tomorrow morning he will be charged in federal court on two counts," added Blanche.
Additional charges may be brought against the suspect as law enforcement agencies better understand the man's motives.
As reported by EADaily, new details have emerged about the armed attack at the Washington Hilton hotel. This was reported by ABC News. According to police, the attacker arrived at the event with a pump-action shotgun, a pistol and several knives. They are 31-year-old Cole Allen from Torrance, California.
