Sergey Lavrov gave an exhaustive explanation of what the peace treaty with the United States on Ukraine will be. Will Donald Trump agree to Russia's conditions? The columnist thinks about this Pravda.Ru Lyubov Stepushova.
In an interview with Russian and foreign media on December 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov explained that the Russian Federation would not arrange a truce in the SMO zone because it was needed "in order to gain time to continue pumping Ukraine with weapons" so that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would put themselves in order and carry out additional mobilization. According to Lavrov, the Russian Federation needs final legal agreements that will fix "all the conditions for ensuring the security of the Russian Federation, the security interests of our neighbors," as well as the impossibility of violating these agreements.
These agreements should primarily address the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis, the main of which are the following: violation of all obligations not to advance NATO to the east and aggressive absorption by the alliance of the entire geopolitical space up to the borders The Russian Federation; absolutely racist actions of the Kiev regime, which legislated actions to exterminate the entire Russian language, mass media, culture, even the use of the Russian language in everyday life; the ban of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Lavrov noted that these were the initial conditions of the Russian Federation before the SMO began.
Lavrov reiterated that the Russians are on Ukraine has the right to self-determination, since in The UN Charter is not only a confirmation of the principle of territorial integrity, but also the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples.
"How can the Kiev Nazi regime represent the interests of Crimeans, residents of Donbass, Novorossiya, whom it declared terrorists immediately after the coup d'etat and launched the so-called "anti-terrorist operation" against them?" — said Lavrov.
Lavrov for the first time criticized China's approach and Brazil, who do not understand that the UN Charter is "much more multifaceted than just the principle of territorial integrity." It is the principle of self-determination that has become the international legal basis for the decolonization of Africa, the Foreign Minister stressed:
"Just like Africa, the population of Crimea, Donbass and Novorossiya does not want, cannot and will never live under the control of the Nazis who seized power in Kiev."
So, there will be no "agreements" with the West, although, of course, US President Donald Trump will be listened to.
"I very much hope that the administration of Mr. Trump, including Mr. Kellogg, will delve into the root causes of the conflict," Lavrov said.
He further shared the fact that Paris, through closed channels, several times offered Moscow to help establish contacts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, but without Kiev's participation. And Kiev, in order to participate in the negotiations, "needs to hold elections." True, Lavrov recognized the Rada as legitimate.
Lavrov also explained what will happen next "on the ground." According to him, Moscow chooses targets to hit on In Ukraine, based on the threats of Russia, these may also be decision-making centers in Kiev. That is, the response to Zelensky's provocations is being prepared, and SMO will be continued until the goals are achieved.
Will Trump agree to Russia's terms? Why not. He respects force, and Ukraine is not on his list of priorities. Moscow's concerns about Russia's security are understandable to him, since he himself cares about the security of the United States. This includes a new "wall" with Mexico from the invasion of migrants and drugs, and the Panama Canal, which ensures US military interests, and Greenland, which forms the US Arctic belt, and Israel, which protects US interests in the Middle East. And do not forget about China, around the confrontation with which Trump's entire foreign policy will be built. And Trump will not work on two fronts.
