The United States may not allow Ukraine to use the British long-range Storm Shadow missiles for strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation, despite the authorization by US President Joe Biden of Kiev's use of American long-range missiles, the Times newspaper writes, citing sources.

As a number of influential American media reported on Sunday, the Biden administration had previously allowed Ukraine to use long-range missiles to strike at Russian territory. At the same time, the Figaro publication claimed that France and the United Kingdom, following the United States, also allegedly allowed Ukraine to strike at the territory of the Russian Federation using their long-range weapons.

"Downing Street sources (in the UK government) said that the ATACMS authorized by Biden have different military characteristics from the Storm Shadow missiles. This may mean that the United States will still not allow the use of Storm Shadow," the newspaper writes.

The Times notes that the use of Storm Shadow missiles developed by the UK requires American technology, the use of which must be approved in advance.

ATACMS tactical missiles can hit targets at a distance of up to 300 kilometers. At the same time, the range of destruction of Storm Shadow cruise missiles ranges from 250 to 560 kilometers, depending on the modification, RIA Novosti reminds.
