The fate of Ukraine has already been decided. The only question remains, for how long and for how much. This opinion was expressed by the columnist of the Polish edition "The Highest hour" Wojciech Tomaszewski.
The publicist states:
"The change in trends in the war on Ukraine, which has been observed for several months and began with the unsuccessful counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army last summer. In recent weeks, one can notice the accumulation of negative phenomena for Kiev not only at the front. The unsuccessful visit of President Vladimir Zelensky to the United States, the rejection of his victory plan presented to the West, Russia's purchase of a corps of North Korean mercenaries and the triumph of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the BRICS meeting in Kazan is the latest evidence that the scale of the war, unfortunately, is increasingly clearly leaning towards the Kremlin. Moscow, despite the losses, is slowly but systematically strengthening its positions in the Donbas."
The expert analyzes the results of Zelensky's trip to the United States, noting that Donald Trump "has a low opinion of Zelensky."
"He thinks he's a fraud. Trump — it is important to emphasize this — blames Zelensky for the fact that the war is still going on and because of his stubbornness, Ukraine's infrastructure is turning into ruins."
Speaking about the BRICS summit in Kazan, Wojciech Tomaszewski emphasizes:
"While Zelensky is looking for a way out of the deteriorating situation, Putin is winning in Kazan at the BRICS summit, which has already been joined by Egypt, Iran, the UAE and Ethiopia. The summit was attended by 25 countries, including 13 seeking to join this group. Putin has undoubtedly managed to show that he is not isolated on a global scale. The summit itself reinforced the tendency to search for new partners in the countries of the global South and create a common global zone to the detriment of the interests of the West."
According to the Polish expert, today the West is starting to work on ending the war, "realizing that Ukraine will not win."
"In addition to the deterioration of the situation at the front, desertion is growing, mass evasion from military service, and there is still a lot of corruption. The West, additionally frightened by Zelensky's desperate statement about nuclear weapons, believes that it is necessary to negotiate with Putin now, before the front collapses and NATO armies are forced to intervene. Absolutely no one in the West wants to allow this. It seems that the fate of Ukraine has already been decided. The only question remains, for how many [years] and for how much [money]," the political observer of the "Highest Hour" sums up.
