The dam of the Kurakhovsky reservoir on the Volchaya River was damaged, the water level within the Velikonovoselkovskaya community rose by 1.2 meters. This is reported by the occupation Donetsk OVA.
"As of 16.00, it was established that the water level in the river within the Velikonovoselkovskaya community has risen by 1.2 meters. But so far no flooding of housing has been recorded," the administration said in a statement.
The breakthrough threatens flooding of settlements located along the Volchaya River not only in Donetsk, but also in Dnipropetrovsk region, noted in the OVA.
Local authorities claim that the dam was undermined RF Armed Forces.
The servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also write about this. According to them, the Russians destroyed the dam in order to flood the roads that supply the garrison in Kurakhovo and the Ukrainian units located north of the Volchaya River and the Kurakhovo reservoir. The explosion complicated the logistics of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, several villages were flooded in the direction of Bogatyr, writes, in particular, Aidara serviceman Stanislav Bunyatov.
"The roads remain usable, but with certain nuances, the movement of armored vehicles along dirt roads around these settlements is, of course, limited," Bunyatov notes, quoted by the Strana newspaper.
According to Russian publications, the dam was blown up by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in order to slow down the advance RF Armed Forces.
