The Alekseevsky District Court of the Belgorod region approved the parole of actor Mikhail Efremov, sentenced to 8 years in prison for drunk driving, which caused the death of a person.
The actor himself noted at the meeting that his health had deteriorated over the past six months. According to him, his attending physician insists on urgent treatment, which cannot be obtained within the walls of the colony. Mikhail Efremov said that alcohol is his main enemy. He promised not to drink anymore and never get behind the wheel.
Mikhail Efremov spent almost 5 years in the colony. The prosecutor in the case of the artist said that the purpose of the punishment has been achieved and he no longer needs to serve time.
As reported by EADaily, on the evening of June 8, 2020, the actor, while drunk at the wheel of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, crossed a double solid on Smolenskaya Square in the center of Moscow, drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a Lada van. His driver, the courier of the online store Sergey Zakharov, died in hospital. Initially, the Presnensky court sentenced Efremov to eight years in a general regime colony, then the Moscow City Court reduced the term to seven and a half years.
