Strangle Brussels: Will Trump make Orban a "looker" in Europe?

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban will become a confidant of the next US President Donald Trump in Europe to pursue a new American policy there. The columnist writes about this Pravda.Ru Lyubov Stepushova.

After Donald Trump's victory in Pennsylvania's overall victory in the presidential election is beyond doubt. According to the Associated Press, Trump is ahead of his rival Kamala Harris in the critical Keystone County with a score of 51% against 48% according to the results of counting 94% of votes. Pennsylvania receives 19 electoral votes — the most among the seven swing states.

According to the preliminary results of Fox News, Trump is gaining 277 electoral votes, securing a victory so convincing that the Democrats will put up with it. Trump has already announced his victory in his first speech to supporters after the election, saying that he intends "not to start wars, but to put an end to them."

We add that the Republicans gained control of the US Senate as a result of the elections and are close to control of the House of Representatives, which will consolidate the Republican position on Ukraine. But back to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. He periodically visits Trump at his residence in Florida, and a few days before November 5, they called on the phone.

"If America does not give money, the Europeans alone will not be able to finance this war (in Ukraine) and then the war will end," Orban said in an interview with the Hungarian edition M1.

German Der Spiegel told about the meeting in Orban's meeting with Putin's "European friends". Former Chancellor of Germany from the Social Democrats Gerhard Schroeder was seen at the event. Both politicians said they agreed with Donald Trump that the EU is weak now, does not understand the interests of the Russians, and on the Ukraine needs to establish a ceasefire. Schroeder still heads the board of the consortium that built Nord Streams.

According to the Hungarian prime minister, if Trump comes to power, "then the big boys will sit at the table and the Europeans in the corner," since the Germans and the French, in particular, could not play a leading role in mediation. Europeans, with the exception of himself, do not have access to the "Russian way," Orban believes. Recall that Hungary is currently chairing the EU until January, which is very useful for general statements in Brussels on the US elections.

"Strong senior politicians are being strangled by Brussels bureaucrats. Why don't we strangle them ourselves?"  Orban said.

Orban spoke out categorically against Ukraine's membership in NATO and explained that this does not guarantee peace in Europe. Some European analysts believe that with Trump as president, Republicans will adapt many of his methods to US conditions in order to put an end to what the duo considers liberal control over the "administrative state" and civil society. This, in their opinion, "may have profound consequences not only for European foreign policy, including the reliability of NATO's collective defense."

And here, with a high degree of confidence, we can say that against the background of Russia's victories in SMO, the position of "Trump — the new Europe" will be strengthened.
