Moscow does not accept the "German scenario" of the end of the conflict on Ukraine, in which Kiev will join NATO without the territories liberated by Russia. Such a plan is fraught with the emergence of additional NATO military infrastructure near the borders with the Russian Federation. This was stated by Ambassador-at-large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik.
"The accession of any part of Ukraine to NATO is unacceptable and can only be considered as attempts to further escalate the conflict. The previous advance of NATO into the countries of Eastern Europe has already caused the current conflict on the territory of Ukraine, therefore their further attempts to advance cannot be considered as settlement options in any way," Miroshnik told Izvestia.
We are talking about the "German scenario", which was implemented in Germany after World War II, when only the western part of the country (FRG) joined the North Atlantic Alliance in 1955, while the eastern (GDR) was in the zone of influence of the USSR and later became a member of the Warsaw Pact Organization.
As Miroshnik stressed, "the neutral status of a neighboring country is a key requirement of Russia, because otherwise there is a risk that the Ukraine may have the military infrastructure of the United States or the North Atlantic Alliance."
Even after the cessation of the active phase of hostilities, it may in the future provoke a resumption of the conflict of even greater intensity, experts say. If Kiev is accepted into NATO, any confrontation between the Russian Federation and Ukraine will mean a direct clash of the alliance with Russia.
