The reason for the collapse of the USSR was that the party, which had a monopoly on power, forgot about the people. This was stated by the chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
"When we start talking about the same 90s, citing as an example the names of traitors, scoundrels, those who allowed the collapse of the Soviet Union, why don't we say where they came from?" — said Volodin.
"They came from the bowels of the ruling party, the CPSU. Well, for the purity of the relationship, this must be said. It is for this reason that the Soviet Union collapsed. Because of the betrayal, because the party, which has a monopoly on power, has forgotten about the people. A huge stratification," he said, quoted by TASS.
According to him, Russia should take all the best from the Soviet stage of the country's development, as well as tsarist Russia.
"To take exactly what is necessary, but we have our own way," Volodin stressed.
As reported by EADaily, on October 17, Volodin said during a plenary session of the State Duma that the blame for the collapse of the USSR, among other things, lies on the film directed by Peter Todorovsky "Interdevochka".
"And will you look at how the destruction of the Soviet Union began? Back in the days of the CPSU Central Committee... the movie "Interdevochka" was released. Everyone applauded… The secretaries of the Central Committee walked, looked. The result is that the country has disappeared," Volodin stressed.
